I truly started my blog as a positive only alternative to other less keenly focused options. Alas, even yesterday my patience was tested. I do not know if you are an eager fan, but down the way a few weeks back 2 cars punched it to get in front of me while the third drove behind. I was only halfway across, with the timer counting down from 17 to start, and then 11 when that third car passed from behind. I swore yesterday to stay as positive as possible, and to offer only good “vibes” to all that should happen my way. That was until I hit that main intersection on foot. The trailer, the one going through the red light doing a left turn from that lane, was at the last second, close enough! My walk light had given me the go ahead for seconds just before. I then turned to look and saw a young lady do the same thing from behind me, while she was coming from the opposite direction from where that fellow that ran the red on his “last-minute” turn had approached! She punched it and sped in front of me! There were inches from my arm, and the side of her car! I went into trauma mode. I could barely handle it. I had sworn that this would never happen again. The rules state that a driver is supposed to wait for the pedestrian to make it (at least closely) to the safe(?) corner. We’re talking about 3 to 5 seconds or so, since I walk quickly to that next spot. I sometimes fear that a guy talking to his fiance’ will become distracted and hit me. I forgot my hearing aid yesterday though. Mother threw the other in the garbage as it was wrapped in a tissue. After squeezing each, and every tissue in the house, I heard the garbage man coming. Alas, I also forgot to look for anyone in a hurry that was about to turn ever so speedily from just behind. As long as this chatty fellow on the phone with his Lovey Dove is watching for street crossers I should be okay. For now anyhow I will be.
